Saturday, Mar 14, 2026 from 10 am to 11:30 am AEDT
Overview

Reduce food waste at home: simple steps that work. This practical workshop helps you to reduce food waste in just four simple steps!

Port Stephens Council has organised this practical workshop, hosted by Mardi Lee from ReNewy Living, in order to help our residents save money and resources by targeting household food waste.

Mardi will teach you how to reduce food waste in four simple steps:

  1. Assess what’s already in your kitchen
  2. Plan meals that suit your lifestyle
  3. Shop only for what you need, and
  4. Store food well without plastic.

You’ll be encouraged to get creative with overlooked pantry and fridge items, build flexible meal plans around your week, and learn simple storage tips that keep food fresher for longer—saving you time, money, and waste.

Attendees will also take home a food waste minimisation pack at the end of the workshop so that you can put your newfound knowledge into practice straightaway!

Please bring a pantry item or two you're unsure how to use. Those challenging items will be used as a group ideas session, or can be gifted to another who knows how to use it. This is an interactive workshop where attendees will start their meal plan and learn how to put into money and planet saving action!
