Join us on Wednesday, 26 June in Sydney as we welcome John Anderson, former Deputy Prime Minister of Australia, and Aidan Morrison Director of Energy at the Centre for Independent Studies for a dialogue on the energy transition, tackling the question of whether the current efforts should be redoubled, or whether a rethink is required. CIS executive director, Tom Switzer will introduce proceedings.

Australia stands at a fork in the road. The current plan to transition to a system dominated by wind and solar is encountering headwinds, with infrastructure investments facing unexpected social, economic, and environmental challenges. Are we still on the optimal path to net-zero? Are we on a viable one?

John Anderson is a former Deputy Prime Minister of Australia. He has recently been published on topics such as civic freedoms, global food security, modern slavery and the economy. He currently farms on the family property whilst also being active in his Conversations series and website johnanderson.net.au, various directorships, public speaking and in the not-for-profit sector.

Aidan Morrison is Director of Energy Research at the Centre for Independent Studies. Aidan is an accomplished data-scientist, analyst, and entrepreneur. He’s maintained a long-standing interest in energy and defence technologies, including nuclear power and naval propulsion systems.
