Traditionally, the practice of Yoga is designed to serve as a tool we use to 'still the fluctuations of the mind'; or to liberate the mind of all egoic based attachments and be freed from the modes of mental and emotional suffering.

In India, the home of Yoga, the practice is seen as a Holistic Science to cultivate health and well-being to the mind, body and spirit. Yoga works directly with the Energetic, Physical and Emotional body to bring about balance and harmony.

An example: if you visit a doctor in India, he will prescribe you asana, pranayama and ayurvedic based lifestyle alterations...
( and if you have food poisoning - maybe an anti and pro-biotic.. )

Unfortunately, in the West - some of this science behind Yoga has been forgotten. Its become about hand stands, and beautiful splits and backbends. (which is fine if thats all you want to learn!)

This workshop is basically a reconnection back into the WHY we practice Yoga.

You can expect to learn :

x the cornerstone philosophical concepts of Yoga
x the eight limbs of yoga and why it is important they are all practiced synergistically
x learn the basics of pranayama (breathing methods)
x learn an opening and closing chant
x a brief overview of the energetic body, and specifically focus on grounding ( and knowing why! )
x learn of the directions of energy moving through our bodies
x practice asana based on soothing the nervous system and grounding the body-mind complex.
x how to do savasana properly :)

About the Facilitator :

Mollie Cox of Jala Yoga is a passionate Ashtanga practitioner and marine conservationist. She is a qualified RYT590 Ashtanga teacher with over 5 years of maintaining a (6) daily Ashtanga self practice, and over a decade of regular yoga practice. She has extensive experience in holding space for the psycho-emotional and energetic transformation that yoga initiates, as well as a thorough understanding of the Anatomy of the human body and the way it moves.
She teaches Yoga in an is an accessible, authentic way, with a progressive alignment focussed approach that honours the source of this philosophy and practice as well as the individual practitioner.
She travels to India regularly to assist her teacher Yogacharya Lalit Kumar in facilitating Teacher Trainings. She is also a Qualified Body Work + Massage therapist with 9 years experience.
Mollie follows the direct lineage of Sri K Pattabhi Jois + Sharath Jois, via her teachers Mark Robberds, Deepika Mehta and Yogacharya Lalit Kumar.
