REBL+SHY x Alluvium: A Live Sound-Responsive Painting Workshop

REBL+SHY x Alluvium: A Live Sound-Responsive Painting Workshop

Devonport Regional GalleryDevonport, TAS
Saturday, Feb 28 from 10:30 am to 12:30 pm AEDT
Overview

A collaboration between Rebl+Shy and Tasmania Ensemble Alluvium, that invites participants to expand their creative practice.

This immersive workshop is designed for anyone curious about expanding their creative practice, inviting participants to explore intuitive mark-making through movement, gesture, and sound.

Responding live to the music of Tasmanian ensemble Alluvium, participants will create a large-scale collaborative drawing inspired by rhythm, texture, and atmosphere. The session begins with the making of extended brushes and mark-making tools, which are then used with ink on a long roll of paper laid across the floor. These unconventional tools encourage participants to let go of control and precision, shifting focus toward embodied, expressive, and meditative ways of working.

This workshop will also respond to the current exhibition in the gallery (as selected by the curator), creating a dialogue between visual, sonic, and spatial elements. The resulting collaborative artwork may be displayed in the Paranaple foyer as a trace of this shared creative moment.
