Do I need to have studied another martial art?

No! While some experience will definitely help every session of sumo training includes fundamental movements and training exercises as these are the key to being a strong and skilful wrestler.

Can I buy my own mawashi?

Yes. Our partner Kiai Clothing sells Kusakura-branded sumo wrestling belts as well as club merch!

Whether you are looking to compete, gain some new skills to apply to other grappling arts, or just see what sumo is all about, this is the only place in QLD you can learn from qualified coaches that have competed internationally and trained in Japan!

There are limited amounts of Mawashi (sumo belts) available to borrow as well as alternative belts for use in sparring should you wish to participate.

The session starts promptly at 10:30 am running until 12:00 pm and costs $20.
