QILT / SES Open-AAIR Discussion

AAIR SIG Conversation Series

This AAIR conversation will be an interactive session for AAIR members and their colleagues who are interested in engaging in an open-AAIR discussion on how to approach the QILT Student Experience Survey in times of the COVID19 pandemic. AAIR plans to continue to run several sessions on this, given that there is so much to discuss. Lisa Bolton, Tash Vickers and Lauren Spencer will co-facilitate these sessions.

If you and/or your surveys colleagues are interested in participating in this open-AAIR discussion on QILT and SES, please register your interest and we will send you a link to participate in the session.

Here are some of the topics we hope to cover during our discussion:

  • Will international students who are off-shore be included in SES scope?

  • How will changes in academic calendars impact on the sample and timing of the SES? What submission dates should be in scope for SES?

  • Is August still suitable for the SES? September for trimesters? Are there institutions this doesn’t suit?

  • Is the HEIMS definition for study mode (external/internal) accurate or nuanced enough?

  • How are survey managers interfacing with stats and data areas around 2020 SES sample in the world of TCSI changes to HEIMS submission dates?

  • Are there going to be additional international student items in the main SES?

  • What extra information do we need to best analyse QILT SES results or additional items we should ask about in 2020?

  • How will we benchmark performance in relation to COVID-19 mitigation strategies? What is important to measure? How do we integrate this into normal institutional practice?

We look forward to e-meeting you in this SIG conversation during COVID!
