QCEC Student Protection Forum 2019

Queensland Catholic Education Commission will be holding a Student Protection Forum on Friday, 26 July 2019 at ACU Leadership Centre Brisbane.

The forum focusses on strategies and leadership to make schools safe places and ways to support and respond to students impacted by complex trauma. The aim of the forum is to provide attendees with up-to-date and challenging information from professionals in the student protection area, with issues to be addressed:

• Strategies for prevention of abuse
• Trauma aware practice in schools
• Leadership in child protection

Presenters include Professor Stephen Smallbone - Emeritus Professor Griffith University; Dr Judith Howard - Senior Lecturer, School of Early Childhood and Inclusive Education, Queensland University of Technology; Dr Katrina Lines, Executive Director of Services, Act for Kids.

There is no cost for the Student Protection Forum. Participants will need to meet their own travel and related costs to attend. Catering is provided at the event.

What are my transport/parking options for getting to and from the event?
Car parking is available at one of the Secure Parking (https://www.secureparking.com.au/en-au) or Wilsons Parking (https://www.wilsonparking.com.au/find-a-park/QLD/Brisbane%20CBD) stations and there are a few within a short walking distance to the ACU Centre.

Alternatively, the ACU Leadership Centre is just a 10 minute walk from Central Train station, ANZAC Square or from the Queen Street bus station.

Access for people with disabilities is available at the ACU Leadership Centre. There is ramp access via Elizabeth Street and Lifts to the venue.

No - you will be requested to sign a confirmation of attendance sheet on the day of the forum.
