Is your goal to include teaching in your career?

What are the steps required to becoming a lecturer?

How can you become a lecturer that stands out from the others?

What strategies and teaching techniques are used at UQ?

If you have been asking yourself these questions, then this workshop is for you!

Thursday, August 17, 1:30–3:30pm, followed by a social mixer, Queensland Brain Institute, Level 7 Auditorium.

Besides the previously covered steps to becoming a group leader, lecturing is another career path for academics. Although most scientists have been exposed to teaching, either as a student or even as an instructor, the transition to a lecturing position might not seem straight forward. This workshop will cover key aspects that are important for a transition to becoming a lecturer. Three invited speakers will discuss several aspects in such a career path:

· Dr Milos Tanurdzic, a lecturer at SBS, will discuss general aspects and skills in teaching

· Dr Kay Colthorpe, a senior lecturer at SBMS, will discuss research-based facts about teaching and learning and how to improve it

· Prof. Doune Macdonald, the pro Vice_Chancellor (T&L) at ITaLI, will focus on the innovative approaches to teaching at UQ.

The workshop will be followed by a Social Mixer to network with the speakers in a friendly and relaxed setting.

This event is hosted by QBI ECR committee and is open to all ECRs at UQ.

We look forward to seeing you all there!
