About this event

Delve deeper into QAGOMA exhibitions at our monthly Members lecture, then catch up with friends and meet fellow Members over a two-course lunch on the Roof Terrace at GOMA.

Hear from Reuben Keehan, Curator, Contemporary Asian Art, QAGOMA for a lecture exploring one of the most memorable contributions to the inaugural Asia-Pacific Triennial in 1993, Shigeo Toya’s Woods III 1991-92. The artwork, which was one of the first large-scale installations to enter the Gallery’s Collection, is currently on display at QAG as part of ‘Woods III: Inscriptions and Excavations’ where it is displayed in dialogue with contemporary Japanese art to draw out ideas of inscription and excavation in Toya’s practice. Featuring works by Lee Ufan, Tokihiro Sato, Yoko Asakai and Yuta Nakamura, the presentation explores Toya’s approach to mark-making and giving form to the invisible as they relate to creativity, time and the natural and constructed world. Lecture only tickets may be available.

$65 Members, $75 Members’ guests / Includes a glass of wine and two-course lunch (main and dessert). Please RSVP and advise any dietary requirements by Tuesday 14 May.

Cancellation & Refund Policy

Ticket holders must provide notice of cancellation by Tuesday 14 May to be eligible for a refund or transfer their payment to another Members event. Refund and transfer requests received after the RSVP date cannot be guaranteed.
