About this event

You are registering for a series of 6 capacity releasing workshops being run by JFA Purple Orange in Kadina during September and October 2020. These workshops are for people living with disability, family members and allies. These events are free. The idea is that in order to achieve the best outcomes you would attend all six workshops.

This is a free event, lunch is provided. The workshops are funded through a NDIA Information, Linkages and Capacity Building grant.

The workshops have been co-designed by people living with disability for people living with disability. The facilitators of the workshop are Jennifer Job from Life Upcycled and Cherie Rowett from Heart Choice Enterprises.

Wednesday 9th September Workshop 1: Build a vision and take charge of your life explores ways for people to build their own unique best life and to take charge and make choices in your life. You will connect in with others, get great information in a way that is accessible and look at things that are important to you. The workshop will give you ideas through the Model of Citizenhood and Social Role Valorisation (SRV). It is a chance to connect in with peers and look to ways of continuing peer networks in your local area.

Thursday 10th September Workshop 2: Making your plan explores the concept of making a plan and setting goals and how this is part of achieving your best life and a way of communicating what you want to the funder (NDIS) and your allies and supporters. It will give you strategies to use to identify goals and set your own adventure. The workshop will also equip you with skills to navigate systems constructively and develop self-advocacy skills to ensure you remain in control.

Tuesday 22nd September Workshop 3: Manage your supports explains how to utilise your supports to build your best life, and ensure you get what you need when you need it. We will look at self-direction and how to self-manage under the NDIS system.

Wednesday 23rd September Workshop 4: Connect with your community examines the rights and preferences for your own community connection .

Wednesday 21st October Workshop 5: Feeling at home enables people to explore the meaning of home and the various options for creating your home and bringing a vision of your own home to life.

Thursday 22nd October Workshop 6: Safeguard your success looks at important concepts such as safeguards and safety, dignity of risk and strategies for raising concerns. It will also look at the benefits of Peer Networks.
