Pulse Talks | Rone

Situated in the heart of Perth’s Cultural Centre, the Gallery houses the State Art Collection with works by renowned local and international artists from the 1800s to today. One of the Collection's key strengths is its holdings of works by Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander artists and its representation of Western Australian art and artists. Twentieth-century Australian and British paintings and sculpture are also a particular strength. Take a free guided tour or find something unique in the Gallery Shop to take home. The Gallery was founded in 1895 and occupies a precinct of three heritage buildings on the south-eastern corner of the Perth Cultural Centre including the former Perth Police Courts. The main Gallery opened in 1979 and is a unique modernist building inspired by the pavilions and courtyards of the Museum of Anthropology in Mexico City.

The West Australian 2024 Pulse Talk with Artist, Rone

The West Australian 2024 PULSE TALKSInternationally renowned multi-disciplinary artist offers a glimpse into his artistic journey.Drawing from his street art background, Rone recognises the pivotal role of context in the appreciation of art.Rone, has carved a distinct niche for himself, with immersive installations, reminiscent of movie sets and his large-scale "walkthrough" installations that breathe life into forgotten spaces.Breaking free from the confines of the traditional gallery model, Rone has embraced a path less travelled, affording him the flexibility to explore new artistic horizons. His most recent triumph TIME • RONE unfolds in AGWA’s historic Centenary Galleries, an architectural gem that hasn’t been fully opened to the public in several decades. As part of AGWA’s commitment to young and emerging artists, PULSE TALKS expands on the success of The West Australian Pulse visual arts exhibition.Together with the support of The West Australian, AGWA is proud to take the lead to champion youth in the creative industries, whether it be music, design, fashion, writing or the performing arts.Photo credit: Tony Mott
