About this event

Convenors: Elise Bant, Felicity Maher and Jeannie Paterson

Over the past 10 years, the Obligations Group at Melbourne Law School has held an end of year conference, which has sought to bring together private law scholars across Australasia to meet, exchange ideas and hear exciting work in progress. Past themes have included the law of remedies, property, contracts, torts, unjust enrichment, equity, trusts and civil wrongs.

In 2021, the Conference moves to the University of Western Australia, to be hosted by the Private and Commercial Law Research Cluster of UWA Law School, on the banks of the beautiful Swan River. The theme of the Conference will return to the theme of Civil Wrongs, capturing a broad range of potential topics across common law, equity and statute. The Conference will be ‘blended’, to allow for in-person and remote presentations and attendance.

The aims of the Conference remain to provide academics with an informal and supportive environment in which to present work in progress, and to facilitate a collegial discussion of issues related to teaching and publishing in the field. We encourage early and mid-career academics and research higher degree students to consider presenting on aspects of their work relating to Civil Wrongs.
