Multi-award-winning Drag Cabaret Legend “wanda dparke” has been performing since the early 1990’s, debuting at Sydney’s Legendary Albury Hotel on Oxford Street. Based in Brisbane with an extensive career to date (starting in Brisbane at the iconic Sportsman Hotel), Wanda has performed as far north as Cairns, as far South as Sydney, as far East as Auckland, as far West as Roma, and pretty much everywhere else in between. Wanda has appeared in and produced many solo and full-cast production shows and has become a regular guest host and performer at many events, including Byron Bays internationally known Balcony Bar and Oyster Co (a favourite haunt of a certain family by the name of Hemsworth). She has been a Marquee Entertainer at many Community events such as Big Gay Day, Pride Fair Day, Cloncurry Mardi Gras, Gemfields Mardi Gras, “Gemfest”, “Taboo” (the longest Drag running event of its kind in Ipswich Queensland), “Tropical Fruits New Year’s Eve” (iconic Lismore LGBTQI+ annual event), and was the founding Host, face, and Entertainment Manager for “Dancing With The Queens”, now entering its third successful year. Private and Corporate events have also played a big part in Wanda’s success and continued career.Charity work is very important to Wanda, and she has been involved in many events for a variety of charities over the years including QUAC (Queensland Aids Council); QPP (Queensland Positive People); ATSAQ (Australian Transgender Support Association Queensland); Open Doors Youth Service; Mature Aged Men’s Social Group; Dragons Abreast Brisbane and Project Pink(Breast Cancer Charities), Reconciliation Queensland Indigenous event “Boundary to Boundary Walk”, and many more.Wanda is one of the break-out Stars of documentary “Bowled Over”, which debuted in January 2021 as part of the limited SBS series “Untold Australia”. As part of this project, she starred in and narrated the documentary, and debuted her self-written and self-produced autobiographical one-woman Cabaret show “The Girl From Biloela” to a sold-out audience in her hometown in Central Queensland. Wanda has a great year planned with many bookings already locked in, new shows ready to go, partially written, and in the planning stages… (typical over-achiever and procrastinator, wouldn’t you agree?).Accolades and awards gratefully and graciously accepted over the years by a humble Wanda include, Entertainer Of The Year (as part of live Drag Cabaret act “Three Drags And A Piano”); Most Popular Drag Entertainer (solo award); and winner of several vocal competitions. Wanda was also an inaugural inductee into the (Sportsman Hotel) Queensland Drag Hall Of Fame, certified as a “Legend”, for her services to the community, to charity, and to Entertainment in Queensland.wanda dparke has grown to become one of Australia’s most versatile and loved LIVE Drag Cabaret Entertainers, appearing on stage, television, radio, and on film. Always at the ready with a song (many self-penned) and a joke (many really really bad) she continues to put a smile on the face of her audience. With retirement not part of her vocabulary any time soon, there is a lot more to come… just listen for the clack of her heels as she steps onto a stage near you soon.
