Megalo printmaking workshop

Where our stories come aliveThe National Museum of Australia brings to life the rich and diverse stories of Australia through compelling objects, ideas and events. Our exhibitions, collections, programs and research focus on three interrelated themes; Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander history and culture, Australia’s history and society since 1788, and  the interaction of people with the environment.  These define our conceptual framework through the themes of; land, nation, and people.

Sunday 18 February 2018 
Join us at the National Museum of Australia for a 3-hour linocut workshop with one of Megalo’s experienced printmakers. Students will be introduced to the wonderful world of relief printing. 
Students will use drawings and sketches to translate an image to the lino block. The workshop will cover a variety of cutting methods and participants will have an opportunity to use the Megalo portable press. 
The class is inspired by the works of artists Yolgnu elder Mulkun Wirrpanda and John Wolseley on show in the Midawarr| Harvest exhibition.
Ages 9 to 12, children must be accompanied by an adult. Cost: $60 child, $50 for Mkids and children on Friends Full membership Bookings essential, limited spaces Main Hall
