Friends Who Are Going
Event description

Description

100 days is long gone. We are almost six months into the Trump Administration. In recent weeks, the world has seen a number of horrific terrorist attacks, the US has all but pulled out of the Paris Agreement, President Trump has signed a multi-million dollar arms deal with Saudi Arabia, and US Attorney General has named North Korea as America’s ‘most pressing security concern.’ At the same time, President Trump is facing investigation into his relationship with senior Russian leaders, and heading to the Supreme Court over his intended “Muslim ban.”

The global stage is certainly changing. What does this unorthodox leadership, in the most powerful country in the world, mean in the international arena? Will the US remain the most powerful country in the world? Should it? What policy objectives could possibly be next for the Trump Presidency?

Joining us to discuss where the Trump Presidency stands, and what it could mean in international affairs, is veteran journalist and political expert, Jim Middleton. Jim Middleton was the ABC correspondent North American correspondent during the Reagan administration, and was present at two of Reagan’s summits with Mikhail Gorbachev. He was the ABC’s chief political correspondent in Canberra for 20 years, over the course of 4 Prime Ministers, and has reported from all over the world. These days, Jim Middleton is a Sky News correspondent, and the Vice Chancellor’s fellow at Melbourne University. The breadth of experience and knowledge of politics will make this evening an exciting and unique discussion.

Be sure to get in quickly, as tickets are very limited. We look forward to seeing you!
