The sheer extent of choice...

“One of the UK's greatest living playwrights”
The Times
A world premiere from one of Britain’s most influential and uncompromising contemporary dramatists brings together all three streams of the Bachelor of Performance – Acting, Directing and Theatre-Making – in a major new Drama Centre production.
In July the Drama Centre Honours cohort investigated Barker’s ground-breaking body of work with Wrestling with Catastrophe. Now the Third Year students ask what Barker is writing now, with their performance of Prefix: a strange, provocative and darkly comic new work in which desire, freedom and the terrifying abundance of choice collide.
As children, Truelove and Lapin are taught to fear “the sheer extent of choice that lies before us.” From there, Barker propels them into a lifetime of teachers and lovers, violence and desire, obedience and transgression – a world in which the forbidden exerts an irresistible pull, and every choice seems to open onto another.
