Precious Tea & Tour: Malcolm Enright

Precious Tea & Tour: Malcolm Enright

Overview

Enjoy an exclusive Tea & Tour with one of Brisbane’s most distinctive collectors.

Led by Malcolm Enright, creator, designer and prolific collector, this special session gives you a rare look inside his remarkable collections and the stories behind them.

Malcolm’s collections on display at Precious are drawn on Brisbane’s past and beyond, among them packaging from defunct and enduring Brisbane businesses, hand-carved wooden objects, and intricate colonial-era frames known as ‘tramp-art’. Each piece has been carefully selected for its story, craftsmanship, and character.

Over tea and cake, Malcolm will share his approach to collecting, researching, and restoring these treasures in a relaxed session focused on conversation and discovery.

Included in your ticket:

  • Precious exhibition tour followed by an informal Q&A
  • Tea, coffee and cake
  • Conversation with Malcolm Enright

About the collector:

Malcolm Enright, creator, designer and collector, is known in Brisbane’s art and cultural circles as the ‘Urban Archaeologist’. He has a huge number of amazing objects in every room of his home and is constantly reading and researching. He now concentrates on buying, trading and restoring handmade objects. He was the creative director at Schofield Sherbon Baker from 1979 to 1985 and an early board member of Brisbane’s Institute of Modern Art from 1975, and again in 1984.
