About the Pre-Provisional course - One Day Course

You need to successfully complete the pre-provisional training course to progress from a learner rider licence to a P1 rider licence, if you live in an area where training is available (declared area).

The pre-provisional training course runs for 8 hours, which includes a lunch break and a Skill test, and you need to provide your own motorcycle and riding gear.

We do hire motorcycles for the Pre-Provisional Course and/or the Skills Test but we DO NOT hire or lend any riding gear – helmets, gloves or wet weather gear. You are expected to bring your own for the Pre-Provisional course.

Your helmet must be an approved helmet and in good condition, and your gloves must be in good condition.

If you don't have your own Learner Approved Motorcycle, see details below about hiring one of ours on the day.

Note: Motor scooters or automatic motorcycles are available for hire for the Pre-Provisional Course and/or Skills Test, but we only have one scooter available for hire. You will need to contact us via email prior to your course to book the scooter and we will advise whether it is available for that day. flrt@dodo.com.au

At the end of the course, you’ll undertake a practical riding test (the Motorcycle Operator Skill Test MOST) to assess your riding ability. If you pass, you’ll be issued a Certificate of Competence, valid for 3 months.

For more information about the Practical riding test go to the RMS webpage -

http://www.rms.nsw.gov.au/roads/licence/rider/tests/practical-riding-test/index.html

Once you have your Certificate of Competence, you then go to Service NSW to apply for your P1 rider licence.

You’ll need to pay the course fee at the time of booking, so you'll need a credit card to book.

Changing your booking

You can only change your booking by contacting our office on 55046910 or emailing us at flrt@dodo.com.au - This can be done up to 7 days prior to the commencement of your course. No changes or cancellations or refunds can be made within 7 days of the commencement of your course.

On the day

Plan to arrive at the course location at least 20 minutes before the scheduled start time. (30 minutes before the scheduled time if you are hiring a motorcycle - see further details on hiring a motorcycle below).

If you arrive after the course has started, you will not be allowed to join the course and you will be sent away. Course fees are not refundable in this situation.

The Pre-Provisional course is carried our in all weather conditions – rain, hail or shine.

You need to bring:

1. PROOF OF IDENTITY - Your current learner RIDER licence - Note – Digital DL is accepted as long as you are able to present it on your own smart phone and it is on the Service NSW app and it is verified by our riding instructor as being current and valid

2. Your motorcycle. It must be registered and in roadworthy condition, with a current number plate and L plate attached.

Be aware that your bike will be checked for safety and road-worthiness on the day. If it fails inspection, you may be excluded from the course and you will not be entitled to a refund.

Bikes are checked by your instructor when the course begins - not before. Once the course begins, and the bike inspection takes place, if your bike fails the safety and road-worthiness inspection, we cannot hire you a bike.

3. If you do not have an approved motorcycle helmet or gloves, or if you are not properly attired, you will be turned away from the course and no refund will be given.

If you do not pass the Pre-Provisional Course, you will not be able to attempt the Skill Test and you will not be entitled to any refund on the payment you have made.

If you pass the Pre-Provisional Course, but fail the Skill Test, you will need to wait at least 24 hours before you can re-attempt a Skill Test.
