The 2024 Local Government Elections take place on 14 September, Central Coast Council is preparing for the return of elected councillors.

Session 1 - Wednesday 18 October 2023 5:30pm for a 6:00pm start. Registration is encouraged and refreshments will be available. Between now and June 2024, Council will host a series of public candidate information sessions for any community member who may be interested in becoming a councillor. These sessions are run in partnership with the NSW Office of Local Government, Wingecarribee and Balranald Council and facilitated by John Rayner, former General Manager, Administrator and experienced Local Government Leader, who will provide information and insights into the democratic process. These sessions are for information gathering only and do not commit you to running for election.What topics will be covered at this information session?The first session is an opportunity to hear presentations from experts in local government and will cover topics including the legal provisions of Council, the roles of the Mayor, CEO, councillors and the elected governing body. Presentations will be followed by an open Q&A session for the community to ask questions of the expert panel.Additional sessionsThere are two more sessions planned for March and June 2024 where the role of councillors and process of running for election will be discussed in greater detail. Once confirmed, final dates and times will be announced on Council’s website and social media channels.
