Power Grid Transformation: Grid Scale Storage and Solutions

The electrical grid is undergoing the biggest transformation since its inception. This seminar explores how grid-scale battery storage is enabling this evolution, shifting us from a baseload power system, to one dominated by distributed, intermittent renewables. The seminar will examine the practical engineering constraints, operational characteristics and the growth of storage. It will also address how the storage solutions support the electrification efforts for a resilient and future-proof power system.

Speaker - Associate Professor Nesimi Ertugrul,

School of Electrical and Mechanical Engineering, University of Adelaide

Nesimi Ertuğrul holds a BSc and MSc in Electrical and Electronics Engineering from Istanbul Technical University, and a PhD from the University of Newcastle upon Tyne, UK. Since 1994, he has been with the University of Adelaide, where he is a specialist in power electronics, renewable energy, battery storage systems, electric vehicles and DC powered nanogrids.
