Dakota is a Bundjalung and Gumbaynggirr author who believes in healing Country and our communities through art and storytelling. His recently published poetry collection, Arsenic Flower, explores the legacy of generational trauma and the cultural wisdom of First Nations people, with dazzling imagery and rhythms inspired by lo-fi hip-hop. Dakota’s poem, Star-filled Lakes, also features in the 2025 book Rivers Flow: Reflections on the Songs of Archie Roach and Ruby Hunter.

This two-hour workshop will include opportunities to:

● Connect to Country through poetry and a personal creative writing practice.

● Reflect, strengthen and expand on your understanding of Culture, Country, Healing and Custodianship.

● Work collaboratively in a safe and supported LGBTQ+ and Ally-friendly space.

● Learn, develop and refine a range of creative writing and poetic techniques.

● Listen & share poetry.

Please bring along your preferred writing materials.

Light refreshments will be served.

Cost: $10 per person.

If you identify as Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander, the workshop is free. However, you still need to book a ticket.
