Description
The PLuS Alliance is launching Global Security PLuS, a collaboration of the first truly global security alliance in the world with a one-day symposium and industry showcase on 19 July at UNSW Sydney.
Global Security PLuS focuses on the prevention, detection and mitigation of threats in violent conflict and war, cybersecurity, terrorism, disasters, and biosecurity. The Symposium will present leading thinkers and practitioners in the field including PLuS Alliance Fellows and experts in global security.
Jacinta Carroll, the Head of the Counter Terrorism Policy Centre at Australian Stregegic Policy Institute, will deliver the Keynote Address. Professor Luca Vigano (KCL) will speak on current issues in cybersecurity, Professor George Williams (UNSW) on Australia’s anti-terrorism laws, Professor Anthony Burke (UNSW Canberra) on violent conflict, ethics and security governance, Associate Professor Brian Gerber (ASU) on natural disasters and violent conflict and Professor Raina MacIntyre (UNSW) data, technology, bioterrorism. Industry and government stakeholders will be in attendance and an inaugural student research prize will also be awarded at the symposium.
