Welcome to the Platypus and eDNA findings workshop happening from 8:45 am Wednesday 18th March at Stroud School of Arts hall.
MidCoast Council in partnership with MidCoast to Tops Landcare, Stroud Community Hub and Stroud RiverCare invites community, landholders and citizen scientists to join us for an exciting day filled with fascinating discoveries about platypuses and the innovative eDNA findings from the Karuah and Myall catchments sampling 30 sites last spring.
Learn how eDNA analysis is helping protect platypus habitat.
Guest speaker: Josh Griffiths - Senior Ecologist and Technical Adviser with EnviroDNA has over 20 years of experience in field surveys of Australian fauna, Josh is a leading expert on platypus conservation with more than 15 years dedicated to research and 10,000 hours of field studies across Eastern Australia. His extensive fieldwork has given him the ecological expertise to design and implement outcomes focused project that deliver meaningful results.
Hear from MidCoast Council Catchment and Weeds teams and learn what you can do to protect our waterways and biodiversity.
After lunch we'll wander down to the Stroud Community Lodge (Mill Brook)and then Mill Creek to see what's being done in the community to protect our waterways.

12:45- Walk and talk-Mill Brook and Mill Creek.
14:00- Wrap up
Please ensure you have closed in shoes, sun protection and adequate hydration.
To avoid disappointment book early as spots are limited. This event is open to everyone, however children must have a legal guardian.
