Join us for a Pizza Picnic in the Park with the relaxing view of Gungahlin lake
WHAT TO EXPECT
Activity
Come along to socialise under the evening sun with the gentle dusk views of Lake Ginninderra!

Be sure to turn right at the first intersection on didams close (signposted as playground/boat ramp) and then go straight at the next junction to arrive at the Diddams close playground carpark.
There will be:
Pizza! (vegetarian, vegan, gluten free, and lactose free options - please reach out with any other dietaries when filling in the order form for the event), as well as yummy flavoured beverages as well as water to keep hydrated.
We will set up on picnic rugs as well as have the park benches availble. And for extra comfort we will have blankets, some cute tunes playing, a selection of fidget toys, and conversation starter cards for use during the event :)
What you can bring along:
- Sun protection (hat, sunglasses, sunscreen etc.)
- Waterbottle (water will also be available at the park)
- Personal hygene options (hand sanitiser if you have specific requirements)
- Any personal or acessibility aids that you might want/need for the evening.
ACCESSIBILITY
The park has graded paths and wheelchair accessible toilets as well as seating, please note there is no undercover seating. Although there are park benches and barbeques as well
Parking
There is a parking area on Diddams close with ramp acess to the toilets as well (see map below).
Transport
This location is hard to reach via public transport, you can click the following link to plan your journey on Canberras public transport network: Journey planner - Transport Canberra (act.gov.au) Alternatively you can arrange Taxi service or a lift from a friend if possible.
Staying Covid Safe
- If you have any cold or flu symptoms do not attend the event, this is not only for covid safety but also general disability safety.
- We encourage masking at our events, N95 masks and hand sanitizer will be available at events.
- If you test positive with covid up to 10 days after the event, please email WWDACT so we can notify the other attendees (community@wwdact.org.au). Your identity will be kept confidential.

What is the Our Autonomy Project?
The DSS has funded WWDACT to run Our Autonomy until June 2027. It's being run by people with disabilities, for people with disabilities to build skills, knowledge, & confidence. It includes 3 parts: Peer events , Info & skill building workshops, yearly member magazine.
