Pitcher Partners Metro: Breakfast Briefing - Wednesday 25 March 2026
Join us for our first Metro CPN Breakfast Briefing of 2026! Running on Wednesday 25 March 2026.
Join us for our Critical Point Network (CPN) Breakfast Briefing at the Pitcher Partners office on Wednesday 25 March 2026!
The ATO has tightened its focus on Family Trust Elections (FTE's) and Family Trust Distribution Tax (FTDT). FTE's have long been a set and forget election making it easy to mistake who is in and out of the family group. Additional complexity arises with mixed family's and complicated group structures. Ben Macpherson will take you through the basics as well as some common mistakes and how to correct them.
Marius van der Merwe will explore the conceptual and practical distinctions between strategic value and fair value, including when each is appropriate, how assumptions differ, and why the choice of value matters in legal, accounting, and advisory contexts. Attendees will gain a clearer understanding of how these concepts are applied in practice and common pitfalls.
Bankruptcy can have serious and long-lasting consequences, even after discharge. Melanie Khoo will take a practical look at tips and traps in personal bankruptcy – what to watch for and how to avoid costly mistakes. She will also provide an update on current ATO debt recovery activity that every advisor should be aware of.
Before and after the session, you will also have the opportunity to ask questions and network with industry colleagues over breakfast. If you require advice on areas outside of your immediate area of expertise, we’are here for one-to-one support too!
Lawyers are eligible to receive 1.0 CPD Point – Practice Management from the Legal Practice Board of WA if they attend the entire session.* Accountants are also eligible for 1 CPD point.
We hope you can join us for another great session!
If you have any questions, please reach out to Sandra Ursino at criticalpointnetwork@pitcher-wa.com.au
