PIPER Paediatric Update

This session is aimed at clinical staff who are experienced with paediatric patients frequently but want to upskill in their care for severely unwell children, so that they can adequately care for and stabilise children in their department until PIPER arrive.

The program focuses on the following topics and skill stations.

Topics may include but subject to change:

  • Recognition of serious illness
  • Sepsis recognition and management
  • Reducing adverse events during intubation
  • Case discussion: Shock
  • Skills station: Respiratory support
  • Skills station: Preparation for intubation
  • Simulation: Resuscitation
  • Case discussion: Stabilisation and preparation for transport


Cost: Full day (light lunch included)

Nursing - $225

Medical – Fellows/Registrars/ Trainees/ - $225

Medical- Consultants/ GPs - $450

Refunds

Refunds will be provided at the absolute discretion of RCH and must be submitted in writing. Requests for refunds should be emailed to piperpaediatric.education@rch.org.au

Substitution

If a registrant is unable to attend you can nominate another person to attend in your place at no additional cost. Please advise substitutions in writing and email to piperpaediatric.education@rch.org.au.

Waitlist (for fully booked dates)

If the date you wish to attend is fully, booked, please add your name to the waitlist on the Eventbrite page. If a position becomes available, those on the waitlist will be offered a position in order of the list.

There is tram stop right outside the hospital on Flemington Road,

To get to the hospital from the city, take

  • Tram 59 from Flinders Street Station (in Elizabeth Street)
  • Tram 58 from Toorak via William Street, City

To get to the hospital toward the city , take

  • Tram 59 from Airport West
  • Tram 58 from West Coburg

Tram and train tickets can be purchased from the RCH retail Wood Pharmacy, located in Main Street.
