Pickle Making Workshop

Local Food Connect (LFC) is a not-for-profit, community group which connects local growers and eaters. So, for example, we connect backyard growers with other backyard growers, and we connect the general population with their local growers, farmers and producers.Operating across North East Melbourne, we encourage, support and promote events, actions and enterprises which help to put your food back into your control.

Learn the fundamentals of vegetable preserving  while
helping to make the pickles for the Home Harvest Feast - (Sunday 1st March)

Hurstbridge Community Hub

Learn new techniques and recipes in this hands-on workshop - while having fun &amp; helping to make the Home Harvest Feast even tastier!
Come for the full day or just a morning or afternoon session. 
Learn the fundamentals of preserving vegetables as pickles or lactoferments.
Turn your excess vegetables into delicious treats to enjoy when harvest time is over.
MIchelle Hegarty will guide you through the fundamentals of pickle making and Marina Bistrin will teach you about lactofermentation and its many health benefits whilst making sauerkraut. 
Bring your favourite knife, an apron and closed shoes as well as two 200 ml jars with corrosion free lids for your take home samples.
Your $5 payment includes a light lunch and tea/coffee. Participants will also receive a free gift of an Eltham Farmers Market shopping bag.Bookings are limited to 8 people. So please book early. But let us know if circumstances change and you cannot attend so that the spots are not wasted - thank you.
