Description
Perth{web}Girls is a grassroots Perth organisation empowering women to code and offers pathways into tech careers by organising free programming workshops and events. Our goal is to increase the diversity in the tech community, spark collaboration, creativity, and expand networks.
We offer beginner level HTML & CSS, and Django & Python workshops (subject to change, depending on interest). Participants are mentored by leading professionals who have extensive experience in industry.
The format of the day is as follows:
9.00 Arrival, coffee, chat
9.30 Introduction to PWG, and coding basics
10.00 Break into small teams to go through an online tutorial, with a mentor handy for when you get stuck.
12.30 Break for lunch (yes, lunch is provided, thanks to our brilliant sponsors)
1.00 onwards This day is all about YOU - work as fast or as slow as you like.
2.00 Cupcakes and stretch break
4.00 That's all folks!

Perth{web}Girls tshirts are now available for pre-order. To place an order for one of these gorgeous white shirts, please select both your participant ticket, and a shirt ticket. Shirts will be available to pick up on event day. Shirts are $25, and are available in both mens and womens cut and sizing. Please note, mentors will receive a free purple mentor shirt on the day.
FAQs
How much does this workshop cost? Nothing, It's free! You just need to be excited! We even provide food - maybe there is such thing as a free lunch.
Who is this aimed at? Women of any age with basic knowledge of working with a computer. We've had people of all ages taking part.
Do I need to know anything technical? No - this is a workshop designed for beginners. There will be mentors on hand across the weekend to help out with any questions you have.
Do I need to bring my own computer? Yes, you do, we don't have laptops to spare, unfortunately.
I know how to program - can I help? Yippee! We're also looking for people to be mentors, so if you would like to offer your time and skills, we would love to have you. Please select a mentor ticket, or contact kate@spacecubed.com to get involved.
