Description

The University of Melbourne is hosting a national one-day workshop, to communicate and discuss current understanding of peer review from a range of empirical studies and the implications for optimising research funding processes.

This workshop will summarise empirical evidence on issues such as the costs, reliability and fairness of funding peer review and broader issues such as alternative peer review processes and selecting high-value research.

Researchers and funders perspectives
ECRs, basic science, clinical trials, burden on researchers/assessors, automation and streamlining of funding processes.

Known knowns of peer review
Reliability, transparency, alternative ways to allocate funding, design to minimise research waste.

Workshop discussion
Ways to integrate evaluation into the ongoing process of research funding.
