This series has been designed to help members of faith communities gain awareness of and understand and manage problematic sexual behaviours of children.

Who should register to attend:

This webinar will be of interest to caregivers of children with problematic sexual behaviour, teachers, youth and community workers, therapists and faith leaders and support personnel.

Those who are intending to join this webinar are highly recommended to join parts one and three as well but this is not a requirement to join.

What you will learn in this webinar:

This webinar on Understanding and Managing Problematic Sexual Behaviour in Children aims to help participants consider why children display such behaviour, consider how adults could respond in a helpful way and to identify some basic ideas for responding and managing such behaviour.

Learning objectives:

  • To identify why children display problematic sexual behaviours. Causal reasons for behaviours will be explored.
  • To help understand what needs (of the child) are being met through this behaviour.
  • To consider basic strategies for responding to such behaviour.
  • Understanding and managing self-touching behaviours (masturbation).

Presenters:

The webinar will be hosted by Daniele Donnini (CPSL Director of Safeguarding).

The presentation will be delivered with participation from Robert Tucker. Robert Tucker is an Independent Social Work Consultant and is the Director of RGT Training and Consultancy, an independent agency in the United Kingdom specialising in sexual abuse, sexual behaviour problems and child trauma. Robert specialises in working with children, young people and their caregivers where there are concerns about sexual abuse and children’s sexual behaviour, providing assessments and intervention to children and adolescents who are victims / suspected victims of abuse and to those who display sexually inappropriate or sexually harmful behaviours.
