Paris or the Bush: the story of the Cods
In May 1924, nine men left their rural South Australian railway town bound for the eighth Olympiad in Paris, France. They had little money and were deeply scarred by war, but they had beaten the best rowers in Australia, not once, but four times. Now they dreamed of taking on the likes of Italy, Argentina, Canada and Yale University to become World Champions of Eight-Oared rowing.
Join us for a special screening of Paris or the Bush: the story of the Cods, a tale of forgotten champions and Australia's greatest untold sporting story.
This screening is supported by the filmmakers Wayne Groom and Dr Carolyn Bilsborow, Veterans SA and the School of Communication, International Studies and Languages, University of South Australia.
Food and drinks will be available during the interval.
A brief Q&A with the filmmakers will be held after the screening.
DVDs will also be available for purchase for $20.
