Painting nature with Emma Jennings
Connect with the shapes and patterns of the forest in a creative and inspiring, hands-on workshop at Emma Jennings Gallery and Studio
Over two hours, explore the art of layering observational drawing with experimentation in the professional studio of Emma Jennings. Receive one on one, warm and friendly guidance to create your own work of art inspired by a range of forest materials using high quality Japanese and watercolour papers.
We will learn how to make paint with charcoal and soil from the forest, about different brush techniques, composition, and storytelling. Above all, I will encourage you to be experimental, to try new things, and to discover the beauty in connecting your observations with meaningful ideas.
At the end of the workshop you will have a collection of interesting test pieces to take home and continue working with, or a final work of art ready to frame. You can work at your own pace — there is no pressure to finish anything within three hours as my approach is to take time to work with the materials and the artwork will emerge at the pace you’re comfortable with.
No experience necessary, just an open mind and creative curiosity.
