About this event

For this month's Pages and Perspectives: Book Club we are reading the haunting Stalking Claremont: Inside the hunt for a serial killer by Bret Christian.

Winner of the 2021 Ned Kelly Award for True Crime, the book explores Australia's longest-running homicide investigation into the notorious Claremont serial killings. Bret Christian reveals how the country's most expensive investigation failed to make an arrest for almost 20 years after the disappearance of the final victim, until new forensic evidence linked the murders to two previous attacks.

Written by local newsman and author Bret Christian, the book looks at the promising young lives cut short, a city in panic, an investigation fraught with oversights and red herrings, and a surprising twist that absolutely no one saw coming.

Please note that members are responsible for sourcing their own books before each session. We have partnered with local bookstore Typeface Books in Applecross, who are generously giving club members 10% off book club purchases. Melville Libraries also have limited copies of each book. This event will take place inside the Wireless Hill Museum with refreshments, small bites and discussion prompts provided by the museum.

To attend this meeting please register, purchase and read ahead of Wednesday, 1 May. Bret Christian will also be joining us at the museum on Monday, 20 May for an in conversation discussion.
