About this event

This month we are joined by former WA Premier Peter Dowding SC, co-author of Secret Agent, Unsung Hero: The valour of Bruce Dowding.

After graduating from the University of Western Australia, Peter was admitted to the Western Australian Bar in 1966 and quickly became prominent representing conscientious objectors to conscription during the Vietnam War, and as an advocate of Aboriginal land and civil rights. First elected to the Western Australia’s Parliament in 1980, he became a Minister when Labor won the 1983 election. Awarded a Centenary Medal in 2003, Peter lives in Fremantle.

August's book club read is A Lady’s Pen: The botanical letters of Georgiana Molloy by Bernice Barry. Happening Wednesday, 7 August, club members are responsible for sourcing their own books before each session. We have partnered with local bookstore Typeface Books in Applecross who are generously giving club members 10% off book club purchases. Melville Libraries also have limited copies of each book. This event will take place inside the Wireless Hill Museum with refreshments, small bites and prompt questions provided.
