Opioid Maintenance Treatment: Building Capacity & Confidence
Opioid Maintenance Treatment: Building Capacity & Confidence
Capital Health Network, together with the ACT Health and Community Services Directorate, invites GPs, GP Registrars, Nurse Practitioners, and other primary care providers working in the ACT to attend a face-to-face workshop on Opioid Maintenance Treatment (OMT).
The workshop will focus on supporting health care professionals to deliver OMT by equipping participants with the knowledge and guidance needed to become prescribers, along with a clear action plan for next steps.
The aim is to build workforce confidence, strengthen referral pathways, address barriers to supporting patients with substance use disorders and ultimately to expand and enhance the OMT prescriber network in the ACT.
Who should attend:
• General Practitioners (including GP Registrars)
• Nurse Practitioners
• Practice Nurses
• Practice Managers
Participants can expect:
• An “ask anything” forum to address stigma and dispel the myths of OMT prescribing
• Panel discussions with multidisciplinary healthcare professionals and people with lived experience
• Interactive panel discussions focused on practical tips for implementing OMT prescribing in practices and organisations
• Panel discussions on the role of pharmacy in OMT care
• CPD hours (4 hours Educational Activities – self-reporting for RACGP, ACRRM, PSA, and NMBA requirements)
• Certificate of attendance and access to resource materials
Format:
In-person, half-day workshop. A delicious lunch, morning tea, and afternoon tea will be provided.
