Ontology Hackathon

By Australian Government Linked Data Working Group

Date and time

Tue, 3 Mar 2020 9:30 AM - 4:30 PM AEDT

Location

Geoscience Australia

101 Jerrabomberra Avenue Symonston, ACT 2609 Australia

Description

Geoscience Australia and the Australian Government Linked Data Working Group invites anyone interested in ontologies join us for an ontology hackathon. Join us to hear from the experts and receive mentoring throughout the day so together, we can build skills, explore common data modeling patterns and develop an ontology specific to you and your interests. Together, we're hoping to formalise concepts and relationships, seeking to represent common properties, patterns of relationships and attempting to connect these to standards (upper ontologies). This will result in useful tools for shared knowledge both for people and system interoperability.

Not an ontologist?

Don't worry- the aim of the day isn't to solve the world's problems, it is to build your capability and see what we can achieve when we get together.

You can contribute by:

  • Bringing contextual information for a thematic area they would like to model (be a subject matter expert)

  • Simply participating in another thematic modeling activity of interest

  • Providing modeling expertise and guidance

  • Thinking outside the box - explore cross-domain relationships

Date/Time: March 3, 2020 9:30 AM- 4.30 PM Canberra
