Description

OurSay and Darebin City Council are hosting an Online Community Engagement Workshop on 21 April 2016 and we’d like you to join us to hear real stories that show you how to strengthen your relationships with your community.

About the workshop

Drawing from successful examples of councils engaging their communities, Matthew Gordon will share practical ideas designed to assist local government professionals to use new communication technologies to better engage residents and communities.

Tim Cooper, Community Strengthening Manager at Cardinia Shire Council, will share insights and answer your questions about Cardinia Shire Council's experience of engaging with their community through their Big Budget Brainstorm.

This interactive workshop will include:

  • how to make substantial inroads into local community engagement and relationships through online methods;

  • how to manage hot issues and tricky consultation processes online;

  • strategies and tactics for using social media to reach 'hard to reach' segments of the community; and

  • in depth success stories from other councils in Victoria.

Who should attend?

Community relations, community strengthening managers, communications and media officers, corporate service and corporate planning officers and executives will benefit from attending and will gain new ideas for developing an online engagement strategy for their organisation.
