The One-Week Town Boost is a hands-on, high-energy week that brings businesses, residents and Council together to breathe new life into our town centre.
Rather than more reports or long-term plans, this week focuses on a series of actions that will give Abertillery an immediate boost.

Info Night - What's happening & how to get involved
Tuesday 10 March 5.30pm -7pm
- How businesses and residents can work together to create a more flourishing town centre.
- How the One-Day Makeover on the Saturday will work and how you can get involved.
- How Council has reduced barriers to make it easier for businesses and residents to take action.
One-Day Makeover Planning Day
Wednesday 11 March 9am-4pm
- Help decide what projects we do on the Saturday.
- Form into Project Teams and create an implementation plan.
Business Workshop - Reducing the Barriers
Thursday 12 March 9am-11am
- Discover the five barriers that stop people walking into your business.
- Create a Till Booster Plan that reduces these barriers for your business.
Business Workshop - Create Buzz, Increase Sales
Friday 13 March 9am-11am
- Discover six ways to create a buzz in town that increases sales for everyone.
- Work with your fellow businesses to create a visitor experience that people rave about.
One-Day Makeover - Real Action, Not Just Talk
Saturday 14 March 8am-5pm
- A key space in Sommerset Street will be transformed to show what’s possible with creativity, collaboration and a modest budget.
- A fun, creative day.
Who should attend?
- Local business owners and staff
- Residents who care about their town centre
- Community groups and volunteers
- Anyone with ideas, energy or curiosity
You don’t need experience — just a willingness to get involved.
How it works
Some sessions are specifically for businesses, others are open to everyone. You can attend one event or several, depending on your interest and availability.
