About this event

COURSES ARE HELD THROUGHOUT THE YEAR.

THE EXACT DATE, TIME AND LOCATION IS NEGOTIATED BETWEEN YOU AND YOUR INSTRUCTOR.

Our experienced, patient and friendly instructors will start with the absolute basics like how to walk your bike, get on and off gracefully, start off, pedal and stop safely. They’ll give you hands-on support until you find your balance and then cheer as you cycle off into the sunset!

You need a bike (ideally your own, but you can also borrow from a friend or family member or hire a bike), a helmet and some determination. Our training is always tailored to your needs and we are also able to work with clients with special physical requirements or disability.

Two types of bike training are offered:

1. Learn to Ride (3 hrs) - designed for absolute beginners

OR

2. Improve Your Skills (2 hrs) - designed for those with some previous riding experience

1. Learn to ride (adults & children)

Our tried and tested training program should get you up and riding within 3 hours!

In these private lessons, you will learn and practice basic but essential bike control skills, such as starting, stopping, using gears, signalling, and scanning in a traffic-free environment. You will also learn strategies for riding safely on paths and local streets.

  • Format for 7-8 year olds: 3 x 1 hour sessions are preferable for younger children
  • Format for those aged 9 and over:  2 x 1.5 hour sessions, usually arranged to be held one week apart.

This training usually costs $200.  However, Darebin residents are eligible to participate in this training program for the specially discounted price of $100, due to generous subsidies offered by the City of Darebin.

Your session can be scheduled on weekdays/weekends, depending on instructor availability.  Please note we usually require 10 days notice to set the training up.

2. Improve your skills (adults & children)

If you know how to ride but are a bit wobbly and lacking in confidence, then this 2 hour private lesson is perfect for you. We’ll practice basic bike control skills including smooth stopping, starting, using gears, scanning, hand signals and emergency stops.

  • Format: 1 x 2 hour session.

This training usually costs $140.  However, Darebin residents are eligible to participate in this training program for the specially discounted price of $70, due to generous subsidies offered by the City of Darebin.

Your session can be scheduled on weekdays/weekends, depending on instructor availability.
