Event description

Description

Gain knowledge and skills to facilitate a SEL program that engages your students.

This hands-on professional development day equips educators, school psychologists and school counsellors with the strategies, program structure and lesson plans, to confidently deliver the Friendship Saver in classrooms or for small groups.

The Friendship Saver is an evidence based, early invention program designed to teach primary school children independent conflict management strategies. As students learn essential social emotional skills, a more positive classroom culture develops which generates a better learning environment for all.

Experiential learning is central to the Friendship Saver curriculum. Students actively develop shared language and techniques to manage peer relationships. These new perspectives and approaches are consolidated with guided discussions, small group work challenges and drama based activities.

Written by Connie Buckingham, a psychologist specialising in child social development, the Friendship Saver is aligned to CASEL SEL framework, Department of Education and Training Personal and Social Capability curriculum and National Safe Schools Framework.

This workshop contributes towards VIT annual renewal requirements.
