A permaculture farm animal care program for kids aged 4-17 years.

On the Farm - Animal Care Club!


Mondays | 4:00 PM - 5:30 PM

9-Week Term

$160 per term first child, $120 per term for each subsequent child from same family.


Located inside the Australiana Pioneer Village 10 Rose st, Wilberforce.

Are your kids passionate about animals and eager to experience farm life firsthand? Enroll in our exciting after-school program where children aged 5 to 17 will get hands-on experience tending to goats, chickens, ducks, quails, and turkeys—just like real farmers!


Week 1 – Meet the Herd & Flock: Summer Health Check


📅 Monday 2nd February

We begin by meeting all the farm animals and learning how to spot signs of good health. A gentle, confidence-building introduction to animal care.



Week 2 – Fodder Garden Builders: Plant a Winter Feast


📅 Monday 9th February

Children plant a shared fodder patch filled with greens and herbs for the animals to harvest in the final week. A fun garden project that lasts all term.



Week 3 – Chicken Wellness Week


📅 Monday 16th February

Children change coop bedding, refresh water, feed a treat, create herbal dust baths, and add herbs to nesting boxes. We collect eggs and check feathers.



Week 4 – Duck Care & Tummy Tonics


📅 Monday 23rd February

Kids refresh duck bedding, scrub water tubs, prepare a duck salad, and learn about using ACV in water. We also check duck feet and feathers.



Week 5 – Rabbit Comfort Week

📅 Monday 2nd March

Children clean the rabbit hutch, refresh bedding, refill water, feed a safe treat, groom rabbits, and make simple herbal forage bundles.



Week 6 – Goat Brushes & Herbal Treats


📅 Monday 9th March

Children refresh bedding, clean water troughs, brush the goats, check coats for lice, and mix a small herbal treat blend.



Week 7 – Quail Care & Tiny Dust Baths

📅 Monday 16th March

Kids replace bedding, clean waterers, feed treats, prepare quail dust baths, and add supportive herbs to their enclosure.



Week 8 – Farm-Fresh Cooking Fun


📅 Monday 23rd March

Children gather eggs and garden greens, then whisk and cook a warm, fluffy scramble in the bush kitchen. A beautiful way to see how animal care and gardening come together on the plate.


Week 9 – Fodder Harvest Festival & Fire-Side Treats

📅 Monday 30th March

Children harvest the fodder patch, make a “fodder salad” for all the animals, and enjoy marshmallows and hot chocolate by the fire to celebrate the end of term.


Each week, your child will also:

•Feed, water, and care for our farm animals

•Groom the goats and play with the baby goats

•Cuddle the chickens, collect the eggs and tend to any baby chicks

•Tend to the turkeys and collect any eggs

•Tend to the quails and collect any eggs

•Tend to the bunnies

•Help with maintaining the animal enclosures and putting down fresh bedding

•Water the garden and discover farm life

•Perform health checks and learn about animal care

•Enjoy free play time with the animals


This program offers a unique chance for children to develop responsibility, gain valuable animal care skills, and enjoy outdoor adventures with new friends on our Permaculture farm. Children will not only learn the basics of animal care but will also develop important life skills like responsibility, teamwork, and empathy.

By engaging in tasks such as feeding, grooming, and performing health checks, kids will build problem-solving skills and confidence. This hands-on program also helps develop fine motor skills while fostering a deep connection to nature and sustainable living. It’s the perfect blend of fun, learning, and outdoor adventure!

What to bring each lesson-

  • Enclosed shoes (Gumboots are best)
  • Water Bottle
  • Afternoon tea
  • Hat
  • Gardening gloves (Optional but recomended)


In case of wet weather- We will have under cover activities planned

In case of severe weather-

Such as- Extreme heat, dangerous storms etc... Classes may get canceled in the best interest of the health and safety of the children. If available, at the discretion of the facilitator, a makeup class may be offered in this instance.
