Event description

Description

Aotearoa New Zealand's growing number of homeless has attracted international attention. According to an Otago University study released this year, more than 20,000 New Zealand youth are homeless. AUT's inaugural Master of Human Rights class 2016 are showcasing a documentary shedding light on this crisis.

While the media has highlighted the housing crisis as a social and political issue, this documentary will focus on the violation of human rights inherent in homelessness. The documentary will give a voice to the experiences of homeless youth and those working on the front line. Following the documentary there will be a panel discussion and a Q & A open to the public.

The panel will include Alan Johnson from the Salvation Army, Angela Maynard from the Tenancy Protection Association and youth workers who will speak about their personal experiences.

Please RSVP by Friday 13 January 2017 for catering purposes.
