Description

‘Roses, Tennis and Democracy’

The story of the Old Parliament House Gardens, history and horticulture.

Actively used and loved by parliamentarians from the 1930s – 1980s as a place of relaxation from the pressures of the House, these reconstructed gardens are a reminder of the early days of the city. On this tour a National Capital Authority guide sketches the story of gardens that house over 7,500 roses, two tennis courts, cricket pitch and bowling green, restored in 2004 for all to enjoy.

Duration: 1.5 hour

Starting Point: Steps of Old Parliament House

Finishing Point: Senate or House of Representatives Garden
