Oils and Acrylic classes
During these classes, we will deal with becoming acquainted with your medium of choice- OIL or ACRYLIC .
Learning about the tools and the materials which will help you develop the confidence to make your own paintings. We will learn about brush technique, palette knife, and other tools as well as composition, and colour usage
Students should supply all their own materials and tools and protective clothing should be worn. The Arthouse has some desktop easels which can be used, but bring your own along if you prefer.
If you choose to use Oil Paint as your medium
Paint Colours should include:
• Red
• Mid Yellow
• Cobalt
• Ultramarine Blue
• Cerulean Blue
• Alizarin Crimson/ Magenta
• Raw Sienna
• Burnt Sienna
• Lemon Yellow
• Cadmium Green
• Titanium white
• Zinc white
Other colours can be added to your palette as you go and as you need them.
If you choose to use Acrylics Paint as your medium
Colours to include:
• Ultramarine Blue
• Cobalt
• Cerulean blue
• Australian red gold or Indian Yellow
• Raw Sienna
• Burnt Sienna
• Alizarin Crimson
• Sap Green
• Red
• White
Other colours can be added to your palette as you go.
- Oil Brushes kit or Acrylic Brush kit ( Usually includes Flat, Fan, Round, Filbert brushes)Synthetic .
- Canvas / Canvas board
- Palette
O il - A Tile or Glass or a Décor storage box and some baking paper
Acrylic- I have found the best palette for acrylic is a Décor storage box ( usually for puff pastry), a thin Wettex sponge, which will fit into the box easily, and some baking paper.
Oil - -White spirit
Acrylic -Water
Oils -include Walnut Oil
Acrylic - Dishwashing liquid
Rags for brushes and wiping out. Sketchbook and pencils, tissues or toilet paper, rubber gloves (optional)palette knife (different sizes)
