Hosted by Australia's academic centre for healthcare communication, Deakin University's Centre for Organisational Change in Person-Centred Healthcare (OCPH), this residential masterclass will be held at Waurn Ponds Estate, tucked away on Deakin University’s Waurn Ponds Campus.

During the masterclass delegates will:
- Gain awareness of the evidence-based frameworks and models to support effective clinical consultations

- Table your own unique communication challenges to draw upon the expertise of interprofessional perspectives
- Refine strategies for conversations about health behaviour change, risk and shared decision-making, prognosis and end-of-life
- Apply new skills by engaging in experiential learning with highly specialised, OCPH-trained simulated patients
- Integrate learning across the contexts of patient care, interprofessional communication, supervision and leadership

TERMS AND CONDITIONS
Cancellation
If a participant chooses to cancel their confirmed registration, or cannot or does not attend the program, the following fees and conditions will apply:
- The registered participant may nominate a substitute delegate in their place in the program at no additional charge. To do so, both the registrant and the nominated substitute must provide written notification to ocph@deakin.edu.au at least ten working days prior to the first day of the program.
- The registered participant may alternatively cancel their registration in writing to ocph@deakin.edu.au and pay the applicable cancellation fee.
- Registration cancellations received:
More than 90 days prior to the event will incur a cancellation fee of 10% of the registration fee including GST
Between 90 and 45 days prior to the event will incur a cost recovery fee of 50% of your total registration fee including GST
Less than 45 days prior to the event will incur a cost recovery fee of 100% of your total registration fee including GST.

Peter has been involved with communication skills training for over 25 years and has been a clinician for over 30 years. His clinical interest is cancer cachexia. Peter has taught communication skills with Cambridge, Monash, Melbourne and Deakin medical schools. He has taught at numerous postgraduate courses with a variety of health professional disciplines nationally for more than 15 years. Since becoming the Director of OCPH, Peter has developed and run a wide range of 1,2 or 3-day courses on healthcare communication including high-level train-the-trainer courses. Peter is co-creator of OCPH’s major, organisational level interventions to drive person-centred healthcare communication, Your Thoughts Matter and Conversations Matter.

Leadership Coach and Mentor
A Radiation Therapist by background, Meg began her career as an educator at RMIT University in Melbourne before moving into strategic oversight of the Cancer Information and Support Service at Cancer Council Victoria. During this time, Meg championed the Victorian Cancer Clinicians Communication Program, and convened the inaugural Teaching Communication in Healthcare Conference and Education Program in partnership with International Association for Communication in Healthcare (EACH) and the Victorian Department of Health. Meg has been instrumental in building communication skills programs for health professionals and non-clinical staff across Australia. Having personally trained more than 3000 healthcare professionals and staff in over 100 experiential healthcare communication skills programs, Meg is established as one of Australia's leading academic experts in healthcare communication. Additionally, Meg works with emerging leaders in individual and group coaching sessions to elevate their practice using evidence-based communication skills. Meg is a member of the International Association for Communication in Healthcare (EACH) and is the Australian representative on the teaching subcommittee (tEACH) for this group. Meg is a member of the International Coaching Federation. Since 2019, Meg has worked closely with Professor Peter Martin in leading Australia's academic centre for healthcare communication, Deakin University's Centre for Organisational Change in Person-Centred Healthcare. Meg is the co-creator of Your Thoughts Matter and Conversations Matter.

Yes, the registration fee includes accommodation for one person including breakfast.
You are welcome to bring additional guests to stay with you on arrangement with the hotel directly. You will need to pay any additional accommodation charges for your guest. Please note the Masterclass program and dinners are only for registered delegates and we cannot accommodate partners at these.
The Masterclass program starts at 10.30am on the first day, and 9.00am on subsequent days.
The Masterclass finishes at 4pm on the final day.
OCPH Masterclasses are a recognised CPD activity with ACEM. All participants receive a Deakin University Certificate of Participation for CME purposes.
