Occupational Violence, Aggression and De-escalation Workshop
Join us in person for a hands-on workshop designed to tackle occupational violence and aggression head-on. Learn practical de-escalation techniques you can use on the spot to stay calm and safe. This session is perfect if you want to boost your confidence and handle tough situations like a pro.
To support the wellbeing and confidence of our teams, we are offering a comprehensive 4‑hour interactive course on Occupational Violence and De‑escalation, designed specifically for the realities of veterinary practice.
The highly practical session empowers staff with the awareness, tools, and communication techniques needed to stay both psychologically and physically safe at work. Participants will learn to recognise the early signs that a client, colleague, or situation is becoming heightened, understand the common triggers specific to our clinical environments, and confidently navigate the stages of the escalation cycle.
Using relatable examples and realistic role‑play scenarios, the course introduces a structured framework to help you de‑escalate challenging interactions. You’ll also explore strategies for maintaining your own composure during tense moments and techniques to return yourself to baseline once the situation has resolved.
By the end of the session, you will:
- Identify early behavioural cues of distress, agitation, or escalation
- Understand the workplace factors that commonly trigger heightened responses
- Apply a clear, evidence‑based de‑escalation model to real veterinary scenarios
- Strengthen situational awareness and personal safety practices
- Use self‑regulation techniques to protect you own and your team's wellbeing during and after incidents
Whether you work in the consult room, reception, wards, theatre, or leadership, this course equips you with practical, confidence‑building skills to help create a safer, calmer workplace for everyone.
