About this event

This is a free event designed for Occupational Therapists who work in the public clinical mental health workforce in Victoria, (staff employed at Area Mental Health Services, Forensicare or mental health staff from RCH). Please note, if you do register for an event and it is not clear you are part of the intended audience, your registration will be confirmed two weeks prior to the event start date, or earlier.

This training focusses on developing knowledge and practice skills based on occupational therapy theory. There is a strong focus on working collaboratively with consumers, and consumer voices have been captured within the session content and resources.

Learning Outcomes

This interactive workshop presents a Model of Human Occupation based approach to occupational formulation and goal setting. This involves synthesising assessment information to present the person’s occupational identity and occupational competence to support identification of key occupational issues which form the basis for developing occupational goals and therapy plans.

Participants are encouraged to revise key concepts from the Model of Human Occupation.

Delivery Mode – Full Day Virtual Training Session

This course is delivered online through virtual classrooms where facilitators and participants can present course materials, engage and interact with one another, and work in groups together. Sessions are hosted via Zoom.

Presenter:

This training is delivered by Lorrae Mynard and Danielle Ashley, Forensicare.

Lorrae is passionate about keeping occupation at the heart of occupational therapy. She has worked in a variety of adult mental health settings in Australia, Canada and the UK and is presently a lead occupational therapist at Forensicare in Melbourne, chairperson of the Australasian Forensic Occupational Therapy Network and a doctoral candidate with Monash University where her research is focused on occupational formulation.

Dani Ashley is an occupational therapy educator with over 18 years' experience working as an occupational therapist in the forensic mental health field, including working with youth offenders, those with cognitive impairment as well as working in prison-based mental health services. Dani has her Master of Advanced Occupational Therapy and is passionate about building practice-based evidence.
