About this event

  • 6 hours

Nurture. verb.

To take care of, feed, and protect someone or something, especially young children or plants, and help them develop and grown.

You probably spend a lot of time nurturing others. When was the last time you nurtured yourself?

Nurture Day Retreat offers an inclusive space to slow down, recharge, and reconnect with your true nature.

Discover a deeper sense of calm, clarity and creativity.

Cultivate authentic connections with yourself, other people, and the world around you.

Feed your body with nourishing vegeterian meals.

And create space to simply 'be'... so that you, too, may develop and grow.

The venue

Nurture Day Retreat takes place at the Lithuanian Hall at Highgate Hill, in inner Brisbane/Meanjin.

Free street parking is available, and the 196 bus stops right outside.

This venue is wheelchair accessible. The ramp is a 3.4 degree incline at the front of the hall. The footpath at the front of the hall is a 5.5 degrees slope. The entrance door to the hall is 134cm and then another door is 84cm wide. The premises do not have a disabled toilet, but the toilet doorway is 79cm wide and the larger toilet is 135cm wide and 241cm long. Please don't hesitate to contact your host, Monique Ross, if you have any questions.

Tell me more about sound healing

Sound healing combines different sounds, music, and special instruments to improve your physical and emotional health and wellbeing.

You will be invited to lay down, get cozy and comfortable, and immerse yourself in a soundscape.

Sound vibrations have a powerful effect on our minds and bodies. Research shows that sound healing can slow down our brain waves and put our bodies in a very relaxed, dreamlike state. I liken it to the effects of meditation or Forest Bathing.

Tell me more about nature journaling

Nature journaling is the practice of drawing or writing in response to nature. It calms your mind and increases your ability to notice details and appreciate things.

Importantly, you don't need any experience in drawing to do it, and you don't need to be 'good' at art.

Monique uses it as another tool to notice and connect with Nature; like another sense. Simple exercises and prompts will help you get your creative juices flowing.

Art materials and sketchbooks will be provided, but please feel free to bring your own if you have favourite materials to work with. You may keep your sketchbook at the end of the day!

Your Host

Monique Ross is an experienced certified Nature and Forest Therapy Guide, who trained with the Association of Nature and Forest Therapy. She is the founder of Heartwood Nature Bathing.

Monique has up-to-date certifications in Remote and Wilderness Area First Aid, and full public liability insurance. All of the appropriate permits have been secured.

What to bring

You will be invited to bring along a Nature item that in some way represents your decision to attend the retreat. This could be a leaf, rock, flower, stick, or anything else.

You may also like to bring:

  • A cushion to sit on
  • A blanket or jumper to place on your body during sound healing
  • An open heart

More details will be provided via email in the week prior to the Day Retreat.
