Join us for an talk by Children's Book Council of Australia (CBCA) award winning illustrator Mel Pearce.

Mel will discuss her artistic process and what it was like working on her first published book, No! Never! written by Libby Hathorn & Lisa Hathorn-Jarman.

About Mel Pearce

Mel Pearce is an artist and illustrator who likes scribbling in detail. Mel completed an Advanced Diploma in Visual Art and Contemporary Craft at the Central Institute of Technology, and received the Blaxell Award, a prize awarded to promising graduating artists. She then went on to achieve a Bachelor of Arts in Illustration at Curtin University.

Her first published work No! Never! (Hatchette Australia, 2020) written by Libby Hathorn and Lisa Hathorn-Jarman has won the 2021 CBCA Book of the Year: Early Childhood Award and was shortlisted for the 2021 CBWA Award for New Illustrators.

No! Never! is a cautionary tale about a little girl who drives her parents up the wall when she starts answering 'No! Never!' to all their requests—and what happens when the tables are turned on her.
