Nikon Experience: Underwater Photography with Nikon Ambassador Matty Smith

PLEASE READ FIRST - Important Requirements to join this class:

• Students must have previous snorkelling experience – this is a snorkelling-only workshop.
• Students must have strong swimming abilities, and be confident to be in the water unassisted.
• Students must have their own underwater photography(camera housing) equipment.
• Students must have their own snorkelling equipment and it is reccomended to bring your own wetsuit and fins, as the boating company has very limited wetsuits, so sizing cannot be guranteed.

Join us for an unforgettable day of underwater photography with renowned Nikon Ambassador Matty Smith aboard Underwater Safaris’ RIB boat. This unique workshop is designed for underwater photography enthusiasts who want to explore the fascinating world beneath the waves and capture stunning images of marine life.

The day will begin at Narooma Golf Club, where we'll gather till 12.30pm for a morning tea and early lunch along with a comprehensive briefing on the 2nd half day's activities and safety procedures. Matty will share expert tips and techniques for underwater photography, ensuring you are well-prepared for the adventure ahead.

Following the briefing, we'll embark on Underwater Safaris’ RIB boat to Montague Island, a renowned location for its vibrant marine ecosystem. Here, you'll have the rare opportunity to snorkel with Fur Seals and photograph these playful creatures in their natural habitat. Matty will provide hands-on guidance and personalised feedback to help you refine your skills and capture breathtaking underwater shots.

What to bring:

• Notepad and pen should you wish to take notes
• Bring your own snorkelling gear & wetsuit (mask, snorkel, fins, wetsuit)
• You must have your own underwater photography equipment (camera, underwater housing, strobes, etc.)
• Mirrorless or DSLR Camera (Does not need to be a Nikon camera)
• Spare camera batteries
• Spare SD Cards
• Swimwear and towel
• Sunscreen & Hat
• Warm clothing and a change of clothes
• Waterproof bag for your equipment
• Seasick tablets
• Photo Identification to enter Narooma Golf Club as you will need to sign in

Skill Level:

• Intermediate to Advanced (Experienced knowledge of photography and snorkelling is required).

Class Day Timeline –

• 0900 to 1200 in the meeting room at Narooma Golf Club for a teaching session. Morning tea and light lunch is provided by the club.
• 1300 to 1700 in the water with seals at Montague Island. Snorkelling only session.

Course Inclusions:

• Room hire for briefing, morning tea & lunch at Narooma Golf Club
• Boat trip to Montague Island

What is NOT included

• Transport to and from Narooma Gold club and wharf
• Snorkelling gear &wetsuit (mask, snorkel, fins, wetsuit)
